A shared canvas widget for your person.

Midnight’s shared canvas is a drawing space for two linked partners. Draw in the app and keep the result on your iPhone Home Screen with the Doodle widget. Both of you can add a little something to the same canvas.
How does a shared drawing widget work?
You and your partner join one private Midnight space. The drawing belongs to that space, so your shared Doodle widget can show the same canvas on both phones. Drawing happens inside Midnight; the widget displays the result.
You can choose Fine, Pen, Marker or Brush, change colors, add text, fill areas, erase, or undo a stroke. You can also wrap a drawing as a gift or save it to your gallery.
How to set up your shared canvas
- Install Midnight on both devices, then invite your partner into your shared space.
- Open the Widgets tab in Midnight to pick a widget. The app also includes an installation guide.
- On your iPhone Home Screen, touch and hold an empty area, tap Edit, then Add Widget.
- Search for Midnight, choose a widget and size, tap Add Widget, then Done.
Apple’s guide to adding and editing iPhone widgets covers the system controls.
In Midnight, tap Send, choose Doodle and open the canvas. Draw something for your person, then save your changes. Your partner’s widget can pick up your shared drawing.
Little things to draw for your partner
- A tiny heart with the date of your next visit.
- A drawing of their coffee order before a busy morning.
- An inside joke you can both add to.
- Half a picture that your partner gets to finish.
- A good-night moon when your time zones do not line up.
- A funny portrait that looks absolutely nothing like them.
Is the shared canvas free?
Yes. Doodle is one of Midnight’s six free widget kinds. The Daylight and Midnight themes are free; six additional widget themes are included in Midnight Pro. One subscription covers both linked partners.
Does the drawing appear instantly?
Midnight shares your saved canvas with your linked partner. iOS controls when Home Screen widgets refresh, so the widget may take a little time to show a new drawing. The website animation illustrates the experience rather than a fixed delivery time.
Can we draw together from different countries?
Yes. A shared drawing does not need both partners to be in the same place or online at the same time. Leave a doodle while your partner sleeps, then find their addition later. Pair it with a distance widget or a love note to make a small shared corner of your phone.
How is a canvas different from a love note?
A shared canvas is visual and collaborative: you both add drawings and text. The Love Note widget displays a short written message from your partner. You can put both widgets on your Home Screen if you want words and doodles side by side.
