Long-distance widgets. A little less far.
Midnight’s long-distance couple widgets give you a little shared presence on your iPhone Home Screen: the distance between you, a drawing from your partner, a love note, and the days until your next hello.
What does the distance widget show?
The Distance widget shows the miles or kilometers between you and your linked partner, with a little map and a flight path. Distance is one of Midnight’s free widget kinds. Location sharing is optional and can be turned off in the app.
How to set up the distance widget
- Download Midnight, then link with your partner using an invite.
- Enable distance sharing in the app and allow location access when you want to share it. Both partners need to share location for the distance to be calculated.
- Open the Widgets tab and choose Distance.
- Add Midnight’s Distance widget through the iPhone Home Screen widget gallery.

Which widgets help when you are apart?
- Shared canvas: leave a doodle on the same drawing, even when your partner is asleep.
- Love Note: let a small handwritten-style message greet them between meetings.
- Miss You: tap the heart to send a little love from your Home Screen.
- Days Together: keep your relationship anniversary and day count close.
- Countdown: keep your next visit, holiday or shared event in view with Pro.
- Tonight: a reminder of your daily question ritual.
Can we use Midnight across time zones?
Yes. You can leave notes and drawings without being online at the same time. For the daily question, the second partner has 36 hours to answer. Your answers stay sealed until you both write something, then open together into a memory.
Is the long-distance widget free?
The Distance widget, shared canvas, Love Note, Miss You, Days Together and Tonight are free in the two free themes. Pro adds Countdown, Mood, the Us dashboard and six more themes. One active subscription covers both linked partners.
Is this continuous location tracking?
The widget gives you a distance snapshot based on shared locations. It is a way to feel connected, rather than turn-by-turn navigation or a promise of continuous updates. Location sharing is optional; widget updates follow iOS refresh scheduling.
Can we still play games together?
Midnight Pro includes four couple games: Would You Rather, Who’s More Likely To, Red Flag Green Flag and Blind Compatibility. You can also browse eighteen date ideas and keep shared memories in your couple space.
